Steven Cowley: Resource vs. Knowledge based energy

Jim Trow, our new technical spokesperson, draws our attention to gapminder.org. This software enables us to create a graph that shows the stark connection between energy consumption and poverty.
If Focus Fusion is successful, will it mean that all the investment of time, energy, passion and money that has gone into traditional renewables is wasted? If we can get unlimited energy for a song, will all those solar energy companies go bankrupt? Is this a win/lose proposition?
After a 7-year hiatus in our experimental work, LPP is back on track to test the feasibility of Focus Fusion!
Transitions don’t happen over night. When you compare total energy costs of hummers to hybrid cars today, as Art Spinella from CNW Marketing Research did, you find that the hybrids cost twice as much per mile driven. Hummer drivers rejoiced at this news, because they didn’t listen to the rest of the analysis.
What is heat pollution, what causes it and what are the dangers? How does Focus Fusion change the equation?
Here are some thoughts on the transition for the Energy industry. As you can see, we need to think this through a lot more to come up with some practical policies, strategies, suggestions.
What are the options for leveraging fusion in oil-export dependent economies?
There are two major ways in which Focus Fusion can affect the planet’s looming water crisis. First, as a source of cheap, virtually unlimited energy it makes hydropower obsolete, liberating many water systems currently trapped behind dams. Second, it will reduce the cost of desalinization dramatically, thus alleviating global water shortages. Of course, switching to fusion and working on these issues will require a complex transition process.
