Dr Guillory and Mr. Lerner are continuing work on 1-D simulation of filament formation.

The Focus Fusion Society has recently been contacted by a graduate student in Spain, Luis Manuel Diaz Angulo, who is working with 2-D electromagnetic simulations and has volunteered to help with the project.

We are currently working on algorithms which will take electric and magnetic fields and generate from them the expected currents in the plasma. These results will then be fed to a version of Mr. Angulo’s program, to generate the electric and magnetic fields for the next time step, thus completing the cycle.

Could you be a bit more detailed about what is involved with the 1-D and 2-D distinction, which dimensions are being referenced, etc., etc.?
